Introduction

The AS course comprises three units, each being split into two topics.  Unlike A2 there is no flexibility with topics, the Board specifying the six topics to be studied. 

AS is assessed by three modular examinations each of one hour in duration.  Click here for typical format.

Unit one

Covered in the Autumn term at RSS and looking at  the topics of Memory (cognitive psychology) and Attachments in development (developmental psychology).

At RSS this unit is examined in January.

 

Unit two

Covered in the Spring term at RSS and looking at the topics of Stress (biological psychology) and Abnormality (individual differences).

Examined in May.. 

 

Unit three

Covered in the Spring term at RSS and looking at the topics of Social Influence (Social Psychology and Research Methods).

Examined on the same day in May!
