Introduction

The  format of the A2 course is more complex than at AS with schools/students having the option to choose topics.

Assessment is now 100% examination with two examinations both contributing 50% towards the final A2 grade. For greater detail see information on individual units.

Unit three

Continues the social, biological, cognitive and developmental areas introduced at AS and introduces comparative psychology for the first time.

Students are expected to answer three essay style questions, choosing from 8 on the paper.  In practice, due to time constraints on teaching, the choice is usually far more limited than this.

Unit four (synoptic)

The module is split three ways:

Section A revisits individual differences from AS.  At RSS we look at depression.

Section B: we look at the psychology of addiction

Section C revisits research methods and looks at the scientific nature of psychology.

Unit 6 (coursework)

Is no more. It has ceased to be. It has expired and gone to meet its maker :-)
